If you've cracked a tooth on something hard, chipped a front tooth in a fall, or a piece of a back tooth just broke away, call (561) 652-5796. We'll see you the same day at our Hypoluxo Rd office in Lake Worth, protect what's left of the tooth and repair it before the break gets worse.
The $99 is a minimum fee for patients paying without insurance. It covers a limited, problem-focused emergency exam (ADA code D0140) and the X-ray needed to diagnose the tooth. Treatment is priced separately and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.

Signs a broken tooth needs care today
A tiny chip off the edge that doesn't hurt can often wait a few days for a planned visit. Call us today if:
- The tooth hurts when you bite or when you breathe in cold air.
- You can see pink or red in the middle of the break. That's the nerve.
- A sharp edge is cutting your tongue or cheek.
- A large piece is gone, or the tooth moves when you touch it.
- The crack seems to run down toward the gum.
- Your gum or face has started to swell.

Cracks spread. A tooth that's split partway can split the rest of the way on the next bite, and a break that reaches the root is much harder to save. Being seen early gives you more options.
If you also hit your head or your jaw doesn't line up, see a doctor or go to the emergency room before you worry about the tooth. And if the whole tooth came out, that's a different emergency: see knocked-out tooth.
What happens at your same-day visit
The dentist checks the break, looks at your bite and takes an X-ray to see whether the crack goes into the root. Then we talk through the repair that fits, with the price in writing before anything starts.
How we repair it depends on how much is gone:
- Small chips: smoothed and polished, or rebuilt with tooth-colored bonding.
- Larger breaks: a filling or a temporary crown to protect the tooth now, with a permanent crown planned later.
- Exposed nerve: a root canal to stop the pain and save the tooth.
- Cracked through the root: sometimes the tooth can't be kept, and removal is the honest answer (see emergency tooth extraction).
Our focus on day one is getting you comfortable and sealing the tooth so it doesn't break further.

Frequently asked questions
What should I do right after I break a tooth?
Rinse your mouth with warm water and save any pieces you find in a clean container. Put a cold pack on your cheek if it's swelling. Cover a sharp edge with dental wax from the pharmacy, chew on the other side, and call us for a same-day visit.
Can a chipped tooth be fixed the same day?
Usually. Small and medium chips can often be smoothed or rebuilt with bonding in one visit. A bigger break may get a temporary crown that day, with the permanent crown on a later visit. The dentist will tell you which applies after the exam.
Can you glue a broken piece of tooth back on?
Sometimes. If the piece is clean, in one part and the break is in the right spot, it can occasionally be bonded back. Keep it in milk or water and bring it with you. More often, we rebuild the tooth with bonding or a crown.
Is a cracked tooth an emergency if it doesn't hurt?
It's worth a prompt visit even if it doesn't hurt. Cracks tend to spread, and a small one is far easier to fix than a split tooth. If it doesn't hurt, isn't swollen and has no sharp edge, calling within a few days is reasonable.
