When a tooth is split, badly infected or too decayed to rebuild, our dentists can take it out today at our office on Hypoluxo Rd in western Lake Worth. Call (561) 652-5796 and we'll hold a same-day time. We see emergencies seven days a week. Please call first, since we don't take walk-ins.
The $99 is a minimum fee for patients paying without insurance. It covers a limited, problem-focused emergency exam (ADA code D0140) and the X-ray needed to diagnose the tooth. Treatment is priced separately and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.

Signs you need an emergency tooth extraction today
Most teeth are worth saving, and the exam is where we find out whether yours is. Removal becomes the likely answer when:
- The tooth has cracked down past the gumline, so there's nothing solid left to hold a repair.
- Decay has eaten through so much of the crown that a filling or crown has nothing to grip.
- An infection keeps coming back and the root can't be cleaned out well enough to settle it.
- The tooth is loose because the bone around it has worn away.
- A wisdom tooth is stuck under the gum, swollen and sore (see wisdom tooth extraction).

Some signs mean you shouldn't wait for a convenient day. Swelling that's spreading toward your eye or down your neck, a fever, or trouble swallowing all point to an infection that's moving. Call us, and if breathing or swallowing is hard, go to the nearest hospital emergency room first.
If the pain is sharp but the tooth still looks whole, it may be fixable. Our emergency root canal page explains that option.
What happens at your same-day visit
You call, and we give you a time that day. When you get here, a dentist looks at the tooth and takes an X-ray so we can see the roots and the bone around them. Then we tell you plainly what we found. If the tooth can be kept, we say so. If it can't, we explain why.
Before anything starts, you get the treatment price in writing. Nothing is done until you agree to it.
A simple extraction is for a tooth that's fully above the gum. We numb the area thoroughly, loosen the tooth, and lift it out. A surgical extraction is for a tooth that's broken at the gumline or hasn't come in. We make a small opening in the gum, sometimes take the tooth out in sections, and close the spot with a few stitches.
You'll leave with gauze, written aftercare steps, and a number to call if anything feels off that night. Most people are back at work or school the next day.
Cost of emergency tooth extraction in Lake Worth
The visit starts with the $99 exam and X-ray if you're paying without insurance. Extraction is a separate fee, and it depends on whether the tooth needs a simple or surgical approach. We write that price down for you before we begin.
If you have a PPO, HMO or Medicare Advantage dental plan, the exam and X-ray are billed to your plan. We also offer in-house payment plans, plus Sunbit, Cherry and CareCredit financing. The cost and insurance page walks through all of it.

Frequently asked questions
Can you pull a tooth on the same day I call?
Usually, yes. We hold same-day emergency times and fit you in once you call. If the exam shows the tooth can be saved, we'll tell you before anything is removed. A small number of very complex cases need a second visit, and we explain why if yours does.
Will I be awake for the extraction?
Yes. We numb the tooth and the gum around it completely before we start. You'll feel pressure as the tooth loosens, but you shouldn't feel sharp pain. Tell the dentist if you do, and they'll stop and add more numbing.
How long does it take to heal after a tooth is pulled?
The gum closes over in about one to two weeks, and the bone fills in over the next few months. Most of the soreness fades within three days. Follow the aftercare sheet, skip straws and smoking, and call us if the pain gets worse after day three.
What if I'm scared of having a tooth pulled?
Tell us when you call and again when you sit down. The dentist will go slowly, explain each step before doing it, and pause whenever you raise a hand. Many people find that knowing exactly what's next takes away most of the fear.
